Yass SES mock rescue
On May 16, Susan Meli and I were contracted by Fairfax Regional Media to record a "mock rescue" and "vertical helicopter rescue" from the Yass River and adjacent Riverbank Park in the township of Yass. Two "protesters" absailed down from the Hume Bridge and waited for NSW Police Rescue to extricate them from their position. We were not made aware that there were actually 4 protesters and that two did not appear while we were there. One remaining protester elected to fall into the Yass River, was rescued by the State SES and arrested by Police. The other remained and was rescued by the State Police Rescue Squad. A NSW Ambulance Helicopter was called in to complete the demonstration and find the body of one other deceased protester down the Yass River...full story in the Yass Tribune.
